about
When word of new theclosing music arrives, the spirit is lifted. Getting to know the music firsthand, prior to release, is pure joy. The forthcoming song "primordial stars" is a stunner. A lovely and powerful continuation of certain sounds and aesthetics that follows dents (Their last album) quite perfectly. "Certain" being the operative word here, in that "primordial stars" may ebb and flow similarly to past works, but to an extreme. A perfectly executed exercise in restraint and controlled chaos, composed and put together with purpose, seemingly ready to explode during certain passages and always beautifully tender... the song is a journey that opens itself up to the listener's imagination. The walls of sound, the delicate twinkles and the dirge-like drums seem to build and then wash away to sea throughout the course of "primordial stars," the quiet sections a salve of sorts to balance the lovely turbulence. theclosing's music is reaching new heights and it is amazing to work with them as artists and also be able to call them friends. Simply can not wait to hear what they have in store for us next. - Michael J. Collins
