Putting into music what cannot be put into words. This is what the Freiburg-based singer Nogood Luna and producer Björn Peng do about the Syrian civil war. The two found together for their own band Totengeläut after the successful collaboration on the Track At Night on Björn Peng‘s album Dark Rave, which we released back in the dark days of 2014. The album is a summary of what Nogood Luna experienced while working with Syrian refugees in the Turkish border region and other places: sorrow and despair – This is what the album title, Aleppo, stands for.
In their seven songs, Björn Peng and Nogood Luna draw musically from the sound of current Dark Wave bands. The cool synthesizer melodies, reduced bass drum beats and softly fading vocals are reminiscent of Lebanon Hanover, Linea Aspera and Boy Harsher.
The album will be released on November 2, 2018, both by Anette, as well as Reach Another System, an associated label from Freiburg / Germany that promotes artists active between the fields of techno and EBM. Anette Records will be releasing 200 LPs on clear vinyl, R|A|S will be releasing 100 black LPs with their own album cover.
